Another earthquake struck Mount Athos

On July 9, 2025, another earthquake struck 10 kilometers from the capital of Athos, Karyes. This time, the underground tremors measured 3.6 on the Richter scale. Later that day, the earthquake struck again. This was reported by the media.
It is reported that shortly before 11 p.m., an earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale occurred in the Mount Athos area on the Chalkidiki Peninsula. The earthquake was recorded at 10:39 p.m., with its epicenter located 10 kilometers west of Karea at a depth of 12.4 kilometers. A second tremor measuring 2.8 on the Richter scale occurred a few minutes later, at 10:46 p.m. Its epicenter was located 8 kilometers northwest of Karyes, at a depth of 5 kilometers.
