The Cabinet of Ministers appointed an acting head of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has appointed an acting head of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine. The position was taken by Deputy Minister of Economy and General Commissioner of Ukraine at the World Expo Tetyana Berezhna. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko on her Telegram channel.

«Today, the government appointed Tetiana Berezhna as acting Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications. During this period of transformation, it is important for the ministry to maintain manageability, financial capacity, and interaction with the cultural community. That is why the duties of the temporary head have been entrusted to an experienced manager with a strong background in public policy, international projects, and working with partners. The main task is to ensure adequate funding for Ukrainian culture in the context of the war. Conducting an audit of needs, intensifying dialogue with donors, and finding additional resources are areas in which Tetiana has already shown results at the Ministry of Economy. Berezhna has extensive experience in reforms, cultural diplomacy, and international cooperation, including as Ukraine’s commissioner at EXPO-2025 in Japan. We are counting on the united work of the ministry’s team. It is especially important that the team remains in place — Galina Grygorenko, Anastasia Bondar, and other relevant deputies. I am grateful to them for their professionalism,» — Syrydenko wrote.

Earlier, we reported that the head of the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, Mykola Tochitsky, was dismissed from his post in connection with the reform of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. Mykola Tochitsky, while serving as head of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, was remembered for increasing pressure on the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. It was during his tenure that the Ministry of Culture initiated a scandalous “examination” of the relics of the Kiev-Pechersk saints and effectively restricted access to the Near Caves for monks of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. In addition, Tochitsky dismissed the head of the National Reserve “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” Maxim Ostapenko, accusing him of not doing enough to combat the presence of the UOC in the monastery.
