Culture Minister Tochitsky, who threatened to expel UOC monks from the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, has been dismissed from his post

The head of the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, Mykola Tochitsky, was dismissed from his post in connection with the reform of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, which is taking place this week. In addition, Oksana Bruy, deputy director of the Yaroslav Mudryi National Library, has been named as a promising candidate for the position. This was announced by Ukrainian MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak on his Telegram channel.

“Mykola Tochitsky is definitely losing his position. He is leaving to become an ambassador. I have heard about Oksana Bruy replacing him, but this is not a fact,” — the MP wrote.

It is worth noting that Mykola Tochitsky, while serving as head of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, was remembered for increasing pressure on the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. It was during his tenure that the Ministry of Culture initiated a scandalous “examination” of the relics of the Kiev-Pechersk saints and effectively restricted access to the Near Caves for monks of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. In addition, Tochitsky dismissed the head of the National Reserve “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” Maxim Ostapenko, accusing him of not doing enough to combat the presence of the UOC in the monastery.
