Metropolitan Longin: “Let's pray that the Lord will reason with those who mock us”

After the court hearing, Metropolitan Longin made an emotional comment on the situation around the protection of disabled children and the general attitude toward the UOC. According to him, today “no one hears” believers, and the mockery of the church and faith continues. A video of the bishop addressing the flock was published on the First Cossack channel.

“Let’s pray that the Lord will understand all those who mock us today. This is a mockery of both God and the church. Neither the Constitution nor the law protects us today, but we are strong, brothers and sisters, because we are with God,” said the Metropolitan.

He spoke about the problems with the custody of disabled children who found themselves in a difficult situation due to the inaction of the court: “It is very difficult for me today because no one hears us. The Hertsaivsky court does not want to take measures to put disabled children under guardianship, it refuses to take care of everyone. I, as a “criminal,” have no right anymore. I am a guardian up to the age of 18, and these children are already over 18, I cannot take them to hospital surgeries, because I have to sign for them, for anesthesia, for the operation. And this court does not want to allow the monastery brothers to take care of disabled children.”

The metropolitan also drew attention to the consequences of the liquidation of the AIDS center, which left “85 children without a doctor, without nurses.” “If I am guilty, judge me, but why should children suffer?” he emphasized.

In conclusion, Metropolitan Longin said: “Today the time has come when we do not have the right to live in this state, to have the rights that everyone else has. We need to be patient a little more, and the Lord will deliver us from our enemies, visible and invisible.”

We also recall that Metropolitan Longin (Zhar) of Bancheny criticized the Romanian Patriarchate for invading the canonical territory of other Local Churches. The bishop noted the attempts to seize churches of the Orthodox Church of Moldova by representatives of the Romanian Orthodox Church and efforts to gain a foothold in Ukraine, saying that the Romanian Church should be ashamed of such actions.
