Monks and believers defended the Transfiguration Monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Knyazhychi from an attempted seizure

In the village of Knyazhychi, the brothers and parishioners of the Transfiguration Monastery prevented an attempt to seize it. According to the lawyer of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the actions of the state executors, who arrived to expropriate the monastery, were unlawful and were committed in violation of the terms established by law.

The incident was reported in his Telegram channel by the lawyer of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Archpriest Nikita Chekman. He stated that the state registrar planned to take the monastery from the believers with the involvement of law enforcement agencies, despite the fact that there were no legal grounds for such actions at the moment.

The lawyer emphasized that all the actions of the officials were illegal due to the failure to comply with procedural deadlines. «According to the norms of the current legislation, the order to open enforcement proceedings was dated November 24, 2025. According to the law, the ‘debtor’, i.e. the religious community, has a deadline of 10 working days. In this case, that deadline does not expire until December 9, 2025. And all these actions that took place today were illegal,» Father Nikita noted.

According to him, representatives of the religious organization have already filed appropriate complaints and appealed to law enforcement agencies in connection with criminal offenses on the part of officials. In conclusion, the brethren of the monastery thanked all Orthodox Christians for their help and support, asking for further prayerful support of the monastery.

Recall, earlier we reported that the media have established the total amount of real estate owned by the Koretsky Holy Trinity Stavropigial Nunnery of the Russian Orthodox Church, located in the Rivne region. Journalists expect that all the property of the monastery will be expropriated by the state after the Holy Trinity Monastery loses its legal registration.
