Authorities in Ivano-Frankivsk report that the renovation of the park on the site of the demolished Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) church has been completed

In Ivano-Frankivsk, the creation of a new public space is nearing completion: the park on Chornovil Street, located on the site of the demolished Spaso-Preborazhensky Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, is preparing to open. According to the publication “Galka” ( ), city authorities plan to complete all work within the next two weeks.

Ivano-Frankivsk Mayor Ruslan Martsynkiv noted on the radio station “Zakhidny Polius” that the area has already been landscaped—trees have been planted and a lawn has been seeded. In the near future, plans call for the installation of small architectural features: benches, trash cans, and swings. The mayor emphasized that the new green space will be an important addition to the city center, completely transforming the area’s appearance.

It is worth noting that the Ivano-Frankivsk city authorities’ claims to the land plot on which the diocesan administration and the Transfiguration Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church were located date back to 2017. Notably, at that time, the Supreme Court of Ukraine ruled that the land and buildings remained the property of the Church. However, later, taking advantage of political instability, the city council decided to expropriate the property and subsequently demolish the structures in question. Thus, the church and the diocesan administration building were demolished in early 2022.
