Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria expressed his sincere support to the head of the Coptic Church, Tawadros II, following his successful surgery in Austria. The Primates of the two churches, in a telephone conversation, reaffirmed the strong ties and mutual respect that unite them.
According to Orthodoxia.info, Patriarch Theodore hurriedly contacted the Patriarch of the Coptic Church by phone on Monday, January 19, to personally express his warm wishes and inquire about the state of his health. Patriarch Tawadros II, who has successfully undergone surgery, warmly received words of support from his Orthodox counterpart.
During the conversation, the Patriarch of Alexandria assured Patriarch Tawadros that he personally, as well as all the clergy and flock of the Orthodox Church of Africa, are praying for his speedy and full recovery. This communication, in addition to its human aspect, underscored the deep fraternal relations and mutual respect that characterize the bond between the two Primates.
For his part, the Patriarch of Coptic thanked for the love and support shown. At the end of the conversation, Patriarch Theodore offered prayers to God that Patriarch Tawadros would be fully restored and would soon return to his high and responsible duties.
Recall, earlier we reported that in 2022 the Coptic Church transferred to the Moscow Patriarchate the Church of the Great Martyr and Wonderworker Mina and Pope Kyrillos VI (“Mar-Mina”) in Giza.
