Serbian Patriarchate reported cyberattacks and an anti-church media campaign

The Serbian Patriarchate issued an official statement in which it reported a series of cyberattacks and coordinated actions directed against its digital and media platforms. In addition, the Patriarchate condemned the organized anti-church campaign conducted by some print and online publications.
According to Orthodox Times, an expert group of the Serbian Orthodox Church has identified a number of «carefully organized and high-tech attacks» targeting various digital and information resources of the Patriarchate since the beginning of the year, especially during the feast of St. Sava, the first Archbishop of the Serbs.
According to the statement, these attacks coincided with an open anti-Church media campaign by specific publications. Despite this, the Church emphasized that its Information Service continues to operate without interruption, fulfilling its traditional communication mission. In this context, the statement quoted Christ’s words to His disciples, «What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered, proclaim on the rooftops.»
The Serbian Patriarchate also assured the faithful and media representatives that reliable information about the life and work of the Church remains available through its official channels. These include the official website of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Porphyrios’ Facebook account, the Instagram accounts of the Church’s Information Service and Patriarch Porphyrios himself, as well as the Church’s official presence on the X platform.
Recall that we previously reported that the Municipal Court in Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina) registered two Serbian Orthodox cemeteries, a chapel and two churches as state property, which caused shock and deep concern among the Serbian community in the region. According to media reports, the Serbian Orthodox Church, which has owned the sites for centuries, was not notified of the court decisions, having learned of them from the media.
