The Phanar rejected Bishop Tychicus' second appeal

The Ecumenical Patriarchate has officially notified the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus of the rejection of Bishop Tychicus’ second appeal against the decision to suspend him from ministry. According to the Orthodoxia news agency, citing the Cyprus News Agency (KYPE), the decision confirms the legality of the disciplinary measures taken by the highest governing body of the Church of Cyprus.
Archdiocese of Cyprus spokesman Christakis Efstathiou explained that the Holy Synod is currently focused on completing the restructuring of the Church’s statutes and advancing the procedures for the election of a new Metropolitan of Paphos. According to the representative of the Archdiocese, the future fate and career path of Bishop Tihikos now depends solely on his own decisions and willingness to follow the Church order.
Recall that Bishop Tychicus filed a second appeal in late January, challenging the decision of the Holy Synod to ban him from ministry. Representatives of the Church of Cyprus characterized these actions as contradictory, since earlier the bishop did not recognize the original verdict of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and even tried to challenge it through the civil courts. In the leadership of the Church also expressed the opinion that the actions of the hierarch may be due to the influence of third parties who mislead him and incline him to the wrong choice.
Recall, earlier Archbishop George of Cyprus announced that the election of a new metropolitan of Paphos is expected within three to four months.
