In Kyiv, military chaplains of different denominations visited the central synagogue to learn about Jewish traditions

Representatives of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU), the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC), the Roman Catholic Church (RCC), and Protestant denominations visited the central synagogue of Kyiv. The visit was organized with the aim of strengthening interreligious dialogue and studying the basics of Jewish culture by the clergy who are now serving together.
The meeting was reportedly initiated by Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Moshe Reuven Asman. During the study tour, the chaplains received information about the basics of Jewish laws and customs, as well as learned about the rules of prayer and key religious holidays. Particular attention was paid to how the modern Jewish community in Ukraine functions and lives.
According to the Chief Rabbi, such events play an important role in bringing together representatives of different traditions. “Such meetings help to better understand each other, remove unnecessary barriers and build true respect between people of different traditions who serve Ukraine together today!” Moshe Reuven Asman emphasized.
Earlier, we reported that in Kyiv, OCU cleric Oleh Sknar lit a Jewish Hanukkah menorah on the territory of the Intercession Church at the military hospital. This event, celebrated on December 15, 2025, is part of an annual ceremony that symbolizes support for Ukraine’s defenders.
