The head of the Metropolitan Church of Bessarabia continues to strengthen ties with the Moldovan authorities

The head of the Metropolitan Church of Bessarabia of the Romanian Patriarchate (a non-canonical entity on the territory of Moldova), Petru Paduraru, sent an official address to Moldovan President Maia Sandu on the occasion of her birthday. In his message, the hierarch emphasized the need for national unity and commitment to spiritual values to overcome historical and social divisions in the country.

According to Orthodoxia News Agency, Paduraru expressed gratitude to the head of state for her efforts to serve society at a time when the people of Moldova are in dire need of balance, clarity and clear direction. He said that spiritual values are the foundation that allows healing the wounds of the past and gives sense to the common efforts to develop the state.

In his text, the hierarch emphasized the special importance of cohesion: «Today, more than ever, we need solidarity, joint efforts and people who can see beyond immediate interests, caring for the good of future generations.» At the end of his congratulations, the hierarch conveyed to the president «the blessing on behalf of all the clergy and faithful of the Metropolitan Church of Bessarabia of the Romanian Orthodox Church.»

Earlier, the Metropolis of Bessarabia, which is part of the Romanian Orthodox Church, appealed to the Moldovan authorities with a demand to immediately intervene and bring to criminal responsibility the priests and residents of the village of Dereneu, who opposed the transfer of the local church to the Orthodox Church of Moldova.
