Another exhibition of "sacred treasures" from the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra has opened in London

An exhibition titled “Sacred Treasures from Kyiv,” featuring seven unique works of art from the 17th–18th centuries from the collection of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve. According to , the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture reports that the exhibition introduces the British public to the pinnacle of craftsmanship by Ukrainian jewelers of the Baroque era and will run through September 2027.

The exhibition includes key objects of the liturgical tradition, among them an altar Gospel in a silver setting, a communion chalice, and a discus. A special place in the museum’s galleries is occupied by the gilded silver Royal Doors, which were previously presented as part of the “Russian Imperial Framework.” Collaborative work by experts from Ukraine and the United Kingdom has made it possible to reinterpret the history of these exhibits, restoring their authentic Ukrainian cultural and historical context.

Maksym Ostapenko, Director General of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve, noted that this exhibition is a significant contribution to the recognition of Ukrainian sacred art as part of the pan-European heritage. The project was implemented with the support of the British Council, the Gilbert Trust for the Arts, and the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, becoming a symbol of the long-term partnership between the two countries in the field of preserving cultural identity—a matter of particular importance amid the ongoing full-scale war.
