The SSU said that there were no cases of violence against representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Ivano-Frankivsk

The Security Service of Ukraine has said that no cases of violence against believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Ivano-Frankivsk have been recorded. This is stated in the law enforcers’ response to the UN report, First Kazatskyy writes.

It is known that on November 8, the UN published a report, which recorded the violation of the rights of Orthodox Christians in Ukraine. Separately, it told about the brutal storming of the cathedral of the UOC in Ivano-Frankivsk.

“On March 28, 2023, unknown persons forcibly broke into the last church of the UOC in Ivano-Frankivsk. During the attack, tear gas was sprayed, believers and clergy were forcibly removed from the building,” the UN statement read.

In response to the Joint Communiqué of the UN Special Rapporteurs, the SSU made a statement that “no cases of violence against persons belonging to the UOC or discrimination on religious grounds were recorded on the territory of Ivano-Frankivsk region. Disputes between representatives of religious communities were resolved through judicial means”.
