Information about the persecution of the UOC is brought to the attention of UK MPs

On July 23, 2024, the head of the international human rights company “Amsterdam & Partners LLP” Robert Amsterdam, who represents the legal interests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, held a meeting with Sir Duncan Smith Member of the UK Parliament Sir Duncan Smith, who represents the Conservatives. During the meeting, Amsterdam told the politician about the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This was reported by the Telegram channel “Watch on the First Cossack”.
It is reported that Mr. Smith was one of those who signed an open letter to the British Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Religion and Belief, Fiona Bruce, showing concern about religious freedom issues in Ukraine. Separately, British parliamentarians, as well as the Anglican Church, expressed concern about the bill No. 8371, aimed at banning the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
We shall remind you that earlier we reported that members of the Parliament of the United Kingdom expressed concern about the possible adoption of the law № 8371, aimed at banning the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. English MPs consider this law to be a serious violation of democracy and freedom of religion.
