We shall remind you that earlier we reported that the head of the international human rights company “Amsterdam & Partners LLP” Robert Amsterdam, representing the legal interests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, wrote an open appeal to Volodymyr Zelensky, in which he pointed out the risks for Ukraine associated with the possible adoption of the scandalous bill № 8371, aimed at banning the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The human rights defender pointed out that he had information about the purposeful destruction of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by the Ukrainian authorities, which, according to international law, is a crime against humanity.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, after a previous failed attempt to vote in favor of bill No. 8371, considered three options for banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. One of the options included the intervention of Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople to finally resolve the church issue in Ukraine. About this, citing its own sources, reports the publication “Left Bank”.
“The search for a possible solution began immediately: in the office of the Speaker gathered a meeting to discuss how to be with the problematic law. Versions sounded creative. Three main ones: 1) We will accept, but as it was in the first reading. That is, two pages and as much as possible about nothing; 2) Let’s adopt it, but in the transitional provisions we will write that it will come into force in a year; 3) It is necessary to go to the Phanar, to agree that Bartholomew gave autonomy to those representatives of the UOC-MP who believe that they are not the ROC, but do not want to go to the OCU. Everything is simple — the question will remove itself! The authorship of the latter belongs to David Arahamia. Who earlier (back in winter) advocated that, for example, Metropolitan Onuphrius should give up the post of Primate (elected for life. — S.K.), then, maybe, the problem would “somehow” be solved,” — said the interlocutor of the publication.
At the same time, according to the source, Arahamia made such proposals to delay the vote for the ban of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Everyone laughed, but it is still David, he is the leader, so they decided that he has time with his proposal until August 15 — the next meeting of the relevant committee. The loudest laugh was Timoshenko, who said that in order to achieve not even the beginning of the relevant negotiations, but a banal meeting with the Ecumenical Patriarch, you have to work 24 by 7, and for a couple of months,” added another one. But this did not upset Arahamia, he immediately created a “working group” consisting of Olena Kondratyuk and Taras Batenko, who would have to go to the Phanar together with him,” — the source added.
In addition, the publication learned that several MPs still went to whitewash the idea of banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, only not to the Phanar, but to the United States. In the United States they were told that in principle they have nothing against the bill #8371.
“When we in the States told them that Robert Amsterdam threatens every deputy who will support the law with personal sanctions, we were simply laughed at. Because from a legal point of view this is nonsense,” — testifies a member of the delegation.
