SSU announces suspicion of one of the monks of the Vvedensky monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

The Security Service of Ukraine reported on the results of yesterday’s search in the Holy Vvedensky Monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Kyiv. The agency announced that one of the monks of the monastery was served with a notice of suspicion. According to the investigation, he “justified Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine on social networks and spread fakes about the socio-political situation in the country.” This was reported by the SSU official website.

“The Security Service has documented the information and subversive activities of another representative of the UOC (MP), who acted in favor of the Russian Federation. We are talking about the archimandrite of a monastery in Kyiv. According to the investigation, the cleric justified Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine on social media and spread fakes about the socio-political situation in our country. During the searches at the suspect’s place of residence in the premises of the UOC (MP) monastery, evidence of criminal acts was found. Based on the collected evidence, the Security Service investigators notified the suspect of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (justification, recognition of the lawfulness, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants),” – the SSU said in a statement.

According to our information, this is a cleric of the Berdiansk Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Archimandrite Volodymyr (Rakk), who left Tokmak and moved to Kyiv. In Tokmak, Rakk was for a long time the abbot of the St. Ambrose Monastery of the UOC.

Earlier, we reported that the Tyachiv District Court found guilty and sentenced a priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Mykhailo Medulich, to one year of suspended imprisonment. The clergyman is accused of inciting religious hatred on the basis of messages he posted on his Facebook page.
