Trinity Cathedral in Chernihiv, taken from the UOC, is planned to be opened as a museum in the near future

The Holy Trinity Cathedral of Chernihiv, which was previously taken over from the Chernihiv Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, is to be opened to visitors as a museum in the near future. The process of “deconservation” of the religious building will take place gradually. This was reported by Inna Nepotenko, deputy director of the Chernihiv Ancient Historical and Architectural Reserve, Chernihiv Time reports.
“To date, part of the work has been completed. The Trinity Cathedral is one of the most visited in Chernihiv. Therefore, we are doing everything to open it to visitors as soon as possible. We will gradually open it in the near future. Follow the announcements on our Facebook page to find out when exactly it will happen,” – Nepotenko said.
Earlier, the head of the Chernihiv Ancient Historical and Architectural Reserve, Natalia Rebrova, said that the Ministry of Culture has no plans to transfer the Trinity Cathedral, which was taken away from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, to any religious organization. Rebrova said that at this stage, the transfer of religious buildings to religious organizations does not seem possible due to the fact that restoration work is underway, and it is difficult to say whether this will happen in the future.
