Patriarch of Alexandria again complains about the ROC

Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria has again complained about the Russian Orthodox Church. The head of the Patriarchate of Alexandria is not satisfied with the missionary activities of the Russian Orthodox Church on the African continent. He is convinced that the Russian Church exceeded its canonical authority by establishing the African Exarchate. He said this during a visit to Kenya, according to The Orthodox Times.
It is reported that in his speech during his stay in Kenya, Patriarch Theodore thanked God for “directing his steps back to Kenya at a time when humanity is being shaken by social, natural and climatic shocks.” He also noted that this visit comes at a time when “the Patriarchate is under attack from a sister church that has gone beyond its canonical jurisdiction by expressing concern for the Church of Africa instead of focusing on its own flock.”
Earlier, we reported that the head of the Department for External Church Relations of the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, spoke about what led to the creation of the African Exarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church. The bishop notes that the ROC was forced to respond to the request of the religious communities of the Patriarchate of Alexandria after Patriarch Theodore unilaterally recognized the OCU.
