Doctors make cautious predictions about Pope Francis' health

The head of the Vatican, Pope Francis, who is undergoing treatment in a clinic in Italy, is gradually recovering. Doctors make cautious predictions about the pontiff’s health, but note a slight improvement. This is reported by Vatican News.

“The mild renal failure detected in the previous days has returned to normal. A computed tomography of the chest performed last night showed the normal evolution of the inflammatory process in the lungs. Clinical and biochemical blood tests performed today confirmed yesterday’s improvement. The Holy Father continues high-flow oxygen therapy; no asthmatic respiratory crises have been observed. Respiratory physiotherapy is ongoing. Despite the slight improvement, the prognosis remains restrained. In the morning, the Holy Father received the Eucharist and devoted the afternoon to work,” – the Vatican press service said.

Earlier, Italian Roman Catholic Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi suggested that Pope Francis may resign due to health difficulties. The Cardinal added that the Pontiff would like to take part in the celebration of the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council before he leaves, but it is not known whether he will be physically able to wait for this moment.
