The inspection of the Near and Far Caves is inherently cynical, - political scientist Bondarenko

Ukrainian political analyst Konstantin Bondarenko commented on the so-called revision of the relics of the Kyiv Cave Monks, which are located in the Near and Far Caves of the Holy Dormition Kyiv Cave Monastery. Bondarenko called what is happening in the Lavra a “sacrilege” and a “godless performance.” He said this in an interview with blogger Alexander Shelest.
“The very inspection of the Near and Far Caves, which was initiated by the Minister of Culture, is inherently cynical, at least in the sense that they are trying not only to make an inventory of the relics, but also to determine their scientific and historical value. What are they going to research? Do these relics belong to Ukrainians, and those relics belong to non-Ukrainians? How will they identify historical and cultural value in general? I don’t understand this,” – Bondarenko wonders.
As reported, the OCU lobbyist in the media, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor of the Skovoroda Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Lyudmila Filipovich explained the reason for the seizure of the Near and Far Caves of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra by representatives of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine. According to Filipovich, the need for the audit arose because of “rumors” that shrines were disappearing from the monastery, and the representatives of the Ministry of Culture had to break the locks because the UOC monks allegedly did not open the doors to the caves.
