Throughout March 2025, monastic tonsures took place in different dioceses of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This is reported on the official website of the UOC.

On March 13, in the Boris-Gleb Women’s Monastery in the Kharkiv region, Bishop Ioann of Izium and Kupiansk performed monastic and ascetic tonsures. The new names were given to Marina, Vasilisa, Ambrosiya, and the ascetics received the names Afanasita and Ioanna.

On March 20, in the Pokrov Men’s Monastery in the village of Muzykovka, Metropolitan Ioann of Kherson and Tavriya tonsured a monk from the monastery, granting him the name Nikon.

On March 21, in the Assumption Women’s Monastery in the village of Domboki in Transcarpathia, Metropolitan Theodore of Mukachevo and Uzhhorod performed the tonsure of two novices, who became nuns Theodora and Magdalina.

On March 25, Several Tonsures Took Place:
At the Georgievsk Gornostayev Monastery (Zhytomyr region), a monk from the monastery took monastic vows and received the name Theophan. In the Holy Trinity Starosilsky Monastery, three novices received the names Siluan, Theophania, and Nektaria, while at the Kamensk Cathedral, a novice was tonsured and received the name Benedicta.

On March 27, in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, two monks were tonsured, and in the Sreten Mikhnev Monastery, Bishop Afanasiy of Kamian-Kashir tonsured the nun Martha, who received the name Rachel, and novice Olga, who became the nun Synklytikia.

On March 28, in the Kherson Diocese, nun Nektaria was tonsured into the Great Schema and received the name Varsonophia.

On March 29, Metropolitan Efrem of Kryvyi Rih and Nikopol performed the tonsure of a novice from the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral in Kryvyi Rih, who became a rasophore nun named Lukiya.

Earlier, it was reported that the National Reserve «Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra,» which initiated the eviction of monks of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church from the monastery grounds, hosted a «Monastic Forum» titled «The First Paisian Readings.» Organizers and participants of the event engaged in «reflecting on the role of monasticism in the modern world, searching for new forms of service, and dialogue between the clergy, scholars, and the state.»
