Abbot of a Greek Monastery: "Woe to Those Who Caused the Schism in Orthodoxy"

The abbot of the Agia Skepi Monastery of the Sidirokastro Metropolis of the Church of Greece, Igumen Dositheos, spoke sharply about the church schism caused by the emergence of the OCU. In a conversation about the Jesus Prayer, he emphasized that prayer alone does not guarantee salvation — first and foremost, one must be Orthodox. He shared this in an interview with the “Union of Orthodox Journalists.”
“I’m glad you are with Metropolitan Onuphry, not with Epiphany, who is a heretic, a papist, a uniate — I don’t know what else, but certainly not Orthodox,” the abbot said.
According to him, the creation of the OCU has led to a deep schism in global Orthodoxy: “He caused great harm to our faith. Now we have a schism — a great schism. And woe to those who caused it.”
Fr. Dositheos concluded by wishing repentance to all who followed the path of division: “May God grant them repentance — to them and to us, that we may return to the true faith.”
Earlier we reported that the head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, Archimandrite Roman (Krasovsky), criticized the “expert examination” of the incorrupt relics of the Venerable Fathers of the Kyiv Caves. Archimandrite Roman called the provocative actions of Ukraine’s Ministry of Culture blasphemous and urged an immediate end to the desecration of the holy relics.
