Chaplain of the UGCC, which supported the Nazis during World War II, took part in the Victory Day parade in London

The delegation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which took part in the parade on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in Europe Day, included a chaplain of the UGCC, Andriy Khomyshyn. As a chaplain of the National Army Academy named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny in Lviv, he accompanied the Ukrainian military and represented Ukraine at the parade held in London. This was reported by the media.
It is reported that Ukrainian soldiers marched past London’s Big Ben and Admiralty Arch with the national flag of Ukraine. Their appearance was accompanied by loud applause. In a special gesture of respect for the Ukrainian military, King Charles III of the United Kingdom stood up and saluted them as they passed.
“It is a great responsibility to represent our struggling nation, our military, who are in the worst conditions on the front line, fighting for our freedom and for our existence,” — the UGCC chaplain emphasized.
It is worth noting that the presence of a representative of the UGCC at the parade on the occasion of the Day of Victory over the German Wehrmacht during World War II is extremely questionable from a historical point of view. It is known for certain that the UGCC actively cooperated with the fascist Hitler regime, and the famous Uniate figure Andrei Sheptytsky even approved the sending of chaplains to the SS Division “Galicia”, which fought on the side of the Third Reich.
