The deputy stated that the law banning the UOC was adopted in order to take away the Church's historic temples

Volodymyr Viatrovych, a member of the Ukrainian parliament from the European Solidarity party, said that anti-church law No. 3894, which aims to ban the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, was passed partly to take away churches that are architectural monuments from the Church. According to Viatrovych, the UOC has been destroying Ukraine’s historical heritage for years. He said this in a comment to the media.

«One of the arguments we used (when adopting the above-mentioned law, — ed.) is that such religious organizations pollute the consciousness of Ukrainians with Russian propaganda. Here we saw that we are talking not only about figurative pollution of consciousness, but also pollution, in the literal sense, of our shrines. We are in an 11th-century temple, which, unfortunately, after several decades of use by “Russian priests,” is in a very poor condition. Obviously, this should be an additional argument in favor of returning such shrines to the Ukrainian state. Unfortunately, the Cabinet of Ministers is delaying the preparation of important subordinate legislation to implement this law, but as a representative of the opposition party, I have been putting pressure on the government and will continue to do so to ensure that they do this as soon as possible,» — Vyatrovich said.

Earlier, Mykola Kniazhytskyi, a member of the Ukrainian parliament from the European Solidarity party, confirmed that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the scandalous anti-church law No. 3894, aimed at banning the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which was adopted, among other things, in order to take away churches from the UOC. Knyazhytsky believes that since not all settlements in Ukraine have churches of the OCU, people may not realize that their “priests have ties to Moscow.” Thus, the law banning the UOC is aimed at correcting this.
