The Pope may visit Ukraine, - ambassador to the Vatican

Ukraine’s ambassador to the Vatican, Andriy Yurash, said that the Vatican is thinking about Pope Leo XIV visiting Ukraine. According to the diplomat, the newly elected Pope Leo XIV has been showing a lot of interest in Ukraine since the first days of his pontificate. On the day of his first public statement, he devoted the central part of his speech to the Ukrainian issue. He spoke about this in an interview with LB.ua.
“We hope that in the fall we will be ready for some of his important decisions. And perhaps among them will be this good news for Ukraine. The Pope is a symbol of goodness. His visit to Ukraine will be the strongest signal to the entire civilized world that Ukraine stands on the side of truth and peace,” – Yurash said.
On July 6, 2025, a meeting took place at the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican between the head of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, and the head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Leo XIV. During the meeting, among other things, the issue of persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was also discussed.
