In Rivne region, authorities transferred a church belonging to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to the OCU

The local authorities transferred the ancient Holy Protection Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the village of Bronnyky, Rivne region, to the OCU. The church, which is an architectural monument, was taken away from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in 2014 as a result of raider schemes organized by local supporters of the OCU and the Rivne region administration. Since then, the shrine has been under the control of local authorities. This was reported by the regional publication Rivne Vechirnie.
It is reported that some time before that, a special commission of the Department of Construction and Architecture of the Rivne Regional Administration worked in the Holy Protection Church in the village of Bronnyky. Officials compiled a list of church inventory for the act of acceptance and transfer of the aforementioned religious building.
The Holy Protection Church in Bronnyky, built in 1929, is an architectural monument of local significance and belonged to the local community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church until 2024, when local supporters of the OCU, with the support of the authorities, organized a standard raider scheme to re-register the community in their favor.
It should be noted that as a result of the conflict surrounding the religious building, the Rivne Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church decided to share the Holy Intercession Church of the UOC in the village of Bronnyky with representatives of the OCU, which was agreed upon by all parties. However, later, despite the agreements reached, supporters of the OCU finally seized the church, changing the locks on the entrance doors and restricting access to it for the UOC community.
