In Lviv region, OCU cleric in a state of intoxication causes fatal accident

A tragic road accident occurred in the Lviv region, the culprit of which, according to preliminary data, was a cleric of the OCU. While driving in a state of severe alcohol intoxication, he provoked an accident that resulted in the death of a person.

According to ZAXID.NET, the incident occurred in the village of Bartativ. Roman Gladkyi, the rector of the OCU church in the village of Kamianobrid, driving a BMW X5, drove into the oncoming lane while overtaking, which led to a collision with another car.

The victim of the accident was a 33-year-old local resident, father of three, who died on the spot. A medical examination showed the presence of 1.5 ppm of alcohol in the blood of the culprit, which is a high degree of intoxication.

The police officially confirmed that the representative of the OCU was driving while intoxicated. By a decision of the court of the Lviv region, he was imposed a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention without bail. The investigation continues under Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for up to ten years in prison.

As reported, on November 8, 2024, the Sykhiv District Court of Lviv fined theOCU chaplainfor drunken driving. It is reported that during the conversation with the police, the chaplain behaved defiantly, swore and threatened. He was fined 17 thousand UAH with a one-year ban on driving vehicles.
