UOC church in Zarichne, Dnipro region, completely destroyed by fire

On the night of January 23-24, 2026, a large-scale fire broke out in the village of Zarichne (Hvardiyske), Samara district, Dnipro region, resulting in the complete burning of the Church of St. Seraphim of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

According to the press service of the Dnipropetrovs’k Eparchy of the UOC, the fire in the church of St. Seraphim of Sarov began late in the evening, at approximately 23:50. The rector of the church, Father Georgy Demchenko, confirmed that by the time the rescuers arrived, the fire had already completely engulfed the building.

Efforts to extinguish the fire could not prevent the complete destruction of the church and all its interior decoration. The property could not be saved.

In connection with this tragedy, the rector and parishioners of the church appealed to the faithful for prayerful support and financial assistance for the restoration of the shrine. Details for assistance: 5168 7456 3377 5504 (Yuriy Mykolayovych Demchenko).

We recall that on the evening of December 30, 2025, a tragedy occurred in the village of Nychogivka, Lutsk district: a temporary prayer room, where the community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church had been gathering for almost seven years, whose church had previously been seized by supporters of the OCU, completely burned down. The fire destroyed the entire building, the church’s decoration, and everything that the believers had arranged for worship. This loss is particularly bitter as it occurred just a few days before the feast of the Nativity of Christ, leaving the community without a place to pray.
