King Charles III of Great Britain expressed condolences on the death of Patriarch Ilia II

King Charles III of Great Britain expressed deep condolences on the death of Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II. In his official address, the monarch noted that the deceased First Hierarch devoted his entire life to serving the Georgian Orthodox Church and spiritual guidance of his people.
According to Orthodoxia News Agency, in a letter sent to the Holy Synod, His Majesty emphasized that Ilia II will always be remembered as a man whose work was characterized by “wisdom and high moral authority.” These qualities brought him well-deserved respect both within Georgia and in the international arena.
Charles III also emphasized the historical significance of the Patriarch’s visit in 2011 and his meeting with Queen Elizabeth II. According to the monarch, this event was a vivid confirmation of the warm and mutually respectful relations between the churches and peoples of Great Britain and Georgia. At the end of his message, the King expressed his sincere condolences to the clergy, believers and all those who mourn the death of the spiritual leader.
