Rivne authorities react to the petition to ban street audio broadcasts of UOC church services

Rivne city authorities have officially responded to an electronic petition whose authors called for banning the use of sound-amplifying equipment for broadcasting Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) services to the street. Acting city mayor Viktor Shakirzyan confirmed that the municipality has already taken steps to enforce the rules of silence in public places.
According to Rivne Online, the city council has initiated inspections by law enforcement agencies and the State Consumer Service. The purpose of these measures is to control how religious organizations observe the norms of the current legislation when holding mass events.
In addition, the city administration sent an official appeal directly to the Rivne diocese of the UOC. The document contains a requirement to use sound equipment only within the legal framework. According to Viktor Shakirzyan, religious communities are obliged to adhere to the established standards of ensuring silence.
We shall remind you that earlier we reported that a petition demanding that religious communities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) be prohibited from using external sound systems, speakers and loudspeakers during divine services was registered in Rivne.
