The heads of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, and the Romanian Orthodox Church celebrated a joint divine service; a patriarchal liturgy was held on the feast day of Patriarch Bartholomew

A solemn Patriarchal Divine Liturgy was held on the island of Imbros to mark the feast of Saints Bartholomew and Barnabas—the day on which Patriarch Bartholomew celebrates his name day.

According to Orthodox Times, the patriarchal concelebration took place at the Metropolitan Church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos on Imbros. The Liturgy was presided over by Patriarch Bartholomew. Patriarch Daniel of Romania and Patriarch Daniel of Bulgaria also participated in the service, having arrived on Imbros to honor the Primate of the Church of Constantinople with their presence on his name day.

It should be recalled that, in connection with the tenth anniversary of the convening of the Holy and Great Council of the Orthodox Church in Crete, Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople appealed to the four Local Churches that did not participate in the Council to officially recognize and accept its decisions. The Patriarch emphasized that this step would be an important gesture of respect for the decades of effort and sacrifice invested in preparing for this historic event.
