China refrained from directly condemning Russia following the fire at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra

Beijing refrained from directly commenting on the recent attack on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and did not blame Moscow, once again emphasizing the need for dialogue and negotiations to resolve the crisis in Ukraine.

According to Romfea.gr, during a press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian was asked by the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform to comment on the “Russian attack” with missiles and drones, which damaged the historic monastic complex.

In response, the Chinese diplomat declined to comment specifically on the incident itself and did not name the party at fault. Lin Jian stated that China’s position on the Ukrainian crisis is “consistent and clear.”

The spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs also emphasized that dialogue and negotiations remain the only viable path to resolving the crisis. As noted in the article, this approach reflects Beijing’s ongoing policy of distancing itself from direct condemnation of Russia and focusing on the broader peace agenda rather than on individual episodes of military action.
