In Paphos, children are taking part in prayers and a peaceful demonstration in support of Metropolitan Tichikos

Prayer gatherings and peaceful demonstrations by the faithful in support of Metropolitan Tikhikos of Paphos continue in Paphos. The participation of children has drawn particular attention; together with adults, they are praying for his reinstatement and holding holy icons in their hands. According to Vima Orthodoxias, the presence of minors at the events has drawn both support from believers and criticism from opponents of this form of participation.

In recent days, children have been gathering regularly alongside adult parishioners demanding justice for Metropolitan Tichikos. They take part in communal prayer and also attended a recent peaceful demonstration, where they held icons and prayed alongside other believers.

The author of the article emphasizes that critics have questioned the appropriateness of children’s participation in such events. In response, the article cites Gospel imagery and quotations, specifically the words that “out of the mouths of infants and nursing babies You have established praise,” as well as the phrase: “if they keep silent, the stones will cry out”. These Gospel references are used as an argument in defense of children’s right to express their prayerful support for their spiritual mentor.

According to the metropolitan’s supporters, the children are not participating in a political confrontation but are demonstrating the sincere faith and love they were taught in the church community. Their presence is described as a testament to the spiritual solidarity of the local church community and as an expression of a sense of justice among the believers of Paphos.

The prayers of the children and parishioners are aimed at restoring peace within the local Church and the spiritual rehabilitation of Metropolitan Tychikos. In conclusion, the author expresses confidence that, according to Christian understanding, the sincere prayers of the faithful will be heard, and the final resolution of the situation should lead to the restoration of justice and ecclesiastical peace.

As a reminder, we previously reported that the Supreme Court of Cyprushad partially granted the appeal of former Metropolitan Tikhikos of Paphos, allowing him to challenge in court the decision of the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Constantinople regarding his removal. At the same time, the court denied a request to extend the deadline for appealing the decision of the Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus.
