In Volodymyr-Volynskyi, TRC officers beat and detained a priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

Reports have emerged of a serious incident in the city of Vladimir-Volynskyi, during which Archpriest Alexander Tarasyuk, rector of the Church of the Holy Mother of God of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the village of Mikulichy, was detained and beaten by TRC officers.

According to a report at from the Telegram channel “First Cossack,” the incident occurred on September 14 around 12:30 p.m. near the Smykovsky Market. Eyewitnesses and subscribers to the publication report that the clergyman was physically assaulted by a group of employees from the local Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC) and was forcibly taken to the agency’s building.

The report also notes that Father Alexander has already undergone a military medical examination. According to available information, he is currently at one of the training grounds in the city of Vladimir. Sources emphasize that the priest’s condition is assessed as serious due to injuries sustained during his detention.

As a reminder, on August 17, 2026, in the village of Khvorostov in the Volyn Oblast, Archimandrite Anthony (Dzhezhela), rector of the Church of the Exaltation of the Cross, was detained and forcibly mobilized. The Vladimir-Volyn Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church confirmed the incident and called on the faithful to offer their prayers in support of the priest.
