In Yurkovtsy, the religious community of the UOC denied the fake about the transition to the OCU

On October 22, 2022, in the village of Yurkovtsy, Chernivtsi region, at a meeting of the territorial community, an illegal vote was held to change the jurisdictional subordination of the temple in honor of the Holy Great Martyr Demetrius of Thessalonica in favor of the OCU. Instead, the parishioners of the Demetrius Church at a meeting of the religious community confirmed their allegiance to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This was reported by the Information and Education Department of the UOC with reference to the press service of the the Chernivtsi diocese.

The rector of the parish in the name of the Holy Great Martyr Demetrius of the village of Yurkovtsy, Archpriest Peter Kostyuk, came to the meeting of the territorial community and informed all those present that, according to the current legislation, members of the territorial community do not have the right to decide the fate of the temple, since this is the exclusive authority of the religious community.

On October 14, 2022, the religious community of the Demetrius Church held a meeting in the temple, at which the parishioners unanimously, in the amount of 322 people, voted to remain faithful to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, headed by His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kyiv and All Ukraine.

However, the illegal voting of members of the territorial community still took place. It was attended by about 200 people who are not members of the religious community of the Demetrius Church. As a result, a fake was spread in some media about the transfer of the Dimitri parish of the UOC to the OCU.

In response, the parishioners of the church in the name of the Holy Great Martyr Demetrius of Thessalonica, led by their rector, recorded a video message in which they refuted the fake about the transition and once again declared their loyalty to the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
