In order to liquidate existing organizations, an individual decision to ban each one is necessary - "human rights activist" on the ban of the UOC

The chairman of the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union in 2004-2012, Volodymyr Yavorskyy, has said that it is necessary to ban all religious communities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church through the courts. Volodymyr Yavorskyy said that all religious communities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church should be banned through a court. Such advice the «human rights activist» gave to Ukrainian MPs in connection with the possible adoption of a law banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the LB.ua news and analysis website reported.
«Of course, here the best way would be a ban through the court. The law simply can always be canceled, and the court decision comes into force. Yes, the courts are a longer process than voting in the session hall. But here legislators need to take into account that there are a large number of organizations and formally they may not have ties with the Russian Federation, because this canonical subordination is not necessarily specified in the statutes», — argues Yavorsky.
In addition, the human rights activist points out that the Ukrainian legislation does not contain the concept of «church», which means that every single religious community will have to be banned.
«In order to liquidate existing organizations, it is necessary to make an individual decision to ban each individual organization. We do not have the concept of «church» in the legislation, and in fact the church is the aggregate of a very large number of religious organizations. If you look at the proposed, the government project and the project № 8262 can be considered and finalized», — summarized Yavorsky.
We shall remind you that earlier we reported that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is planning to consider bills on banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the near future.
