"51 hryvnias for incitement": in Volyn, the court fined a man who attacked believers under the temple of the UOC

In Kovel, Volyn region, a court awarded a local resident 51 hryvnias in fines for attacking UOC believers, insulting them, inciting religious hatred, and later smashing a window in the local St. Michael’s Church of the UOC. The court qualified the actions of the attacker as hooliganism. About it reports the regional site “Volyn news service”.

“In Kovel on Independence street local resident Vyacheslav S. molested passers-by citizens, expressed profanity and threw stones at the window of the Church of Archangel Michael of the UOC, as a result of which he broke it. This is stated in the ruling of the Kovel city district court. The incident occurred on March 22, 2024 at 15:30. At the scene of the incident arrived patrol police officers. On the man was drawn up a protocol on the fact of petty hooliganism. in the court hearing on the consideration of this case he did not appear, being duly notified of the date and time, the court about the reasons for non-appearance did not inform. Judge Petro Boychuk decided to fine the offender 51 hryvnias and charge him a court fee in the amount of 605 hryvnias 60 kopecks”, – stated in the message.
