Lviv Regional State Administration requires the remaining UOC congregations in the region to switch to the OCU by the end of the year

The Lviv Regional State Administration demands that the 11 remaining religious communities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the region join the OCU by the end of the year. According to the relevant officials of the regional state administration, this should take place as part of “decommunization” and the fight against the UOC in the region. This is reported by the Lviv website “Your City”.
It is reported that after February 24, 2022, until August 27, 2024, the affiliation of 24 communities was changed, namely, in 2022 – 13 communities, in 2023 – 10, this year – one religious community. Over the entire period, 19 religious communities belonging to the UOC were liquidated, including 18 communities this year. In total, there were 43 religious communities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the Lviv region.
“The leadership of the Lviv Regional State Administration and the Department set a goal, given the positive trends in the transition or liquidation of the UOC-MP community, as well as the process of decommunization in the Lviv region, to carry out the final re-registration of the transitions of religious communities from the UOC-MP to the OCU,” – said Iryna Havryliuk, Director of the Department for Culture, Nationalities and Religions of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
Earlier, we reported that the head of the Lviv Regional State Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, threatened the remaining communities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the region with courts that would stop their activities.
