OCU chaplain fined in Lviv for driving under the influence

On November 8, 2024, the Sykhiv District Court of Lviv fined the OCU chaplain for drunken driving. It is reported that during the conversation with the police, the chaplain behaved defiantly, swore and threatened. He was fined 17 thousand UAH with a one-year ban on driving vehicles. This was reported by the media.

According to the Sykhiv District Court’s website, the military chaplain, according to the police report, was driving while intoxicated. The test showed 2.25 ppm of alcohol, while the permissible limit is 0.2 ppm. The video from the scene showed the clergyman’s impudent behavior, he swore and threatened while talking to police officers.

As we reported earlier, as of October 2024, more than 300 representatives of various denominations are listed as chaplains in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, most of whom are provided by the OCU. In addition to higher religious education, chaplains receive special training in military educational institutions.
