Organizers of the procession to the monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church were fined in Bukovyna

Participants in a traditional religious procession from Chernivtsi to the Holy Dormition Monastery in the village of Kulivtsi, Chernivtsi region, were fined for holding the event. They face a fine of 425 hryvnia. The police believe that the procession was held illegally. This was reported by Zaxid.net.
“Law enforcement officers did not receive any appeals or statements from citizens from the UOC-MP community or from the other side. However, since it is forbidden to hold mass gatherings for pilgrims during martial law, the police identified the organizers of the procession and drew up a report of administrative offense for violating the procedure for holding meetings, rallies, street marches and demonstrations,” — said Bukovina police spokeswoman Karolina Marysheva in a comment.
It is worth noting that the authorities of many Ukrainian regions have restricted or banned religious processions and other mass events of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, guided by the martial law. Earlier we reported that on August 22, 2023, at the third plenary meeting of the fifth session of the Ternopil Regional Council of the seventh convocation, deputies banned the religious procession of UOC believers to Pochayiv.
