Hospital church in Kyiv seized from UOC converted into cafe

The hospital church of St. Xenia of St. Petersburg at Kyiv City Clinical Hospital No. 3, which was taken over from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in 2022, was converted into a café. The church has been fully operational at the clinic for 22 years, providing an opportunity for staff and patients to participate in the services and sacraments of the Church. This is reported by First Cossack.
It is reported that the hospital church in honor of St. Xenia of St. Petersburg was closed on the night of February 10, 2022. The hospital management unilaterally decided to close the church and remove church utensils. Later it became known that a cafe “The Coffee Doc” was opened in the premises where the church used to be located.
Earlier, the general director of the Chernihiv Ancient Reserve, Natalia Rebrova, said that the institution would continue to use the churches of Chernihiv taken from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church not for their intended purpose, but for organizing secular and cultural events. Rebrova argues that since these churches are architectural monuments that are a historical heritage, they cannot be used exclusively for worship.
