Hierarch of Greek Orthodox Church expresses support for UOC

The hierarch of the Greek Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Nektarios of Kerkyra, expressed support for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, its Primate, clergy and faithful. The bishop expressed his solidarity with the UOC, which is going through difficult trials. He wrote about this in a cover letter, which he handed over along with the shrines of St. Spyridon of Tremithous, presented to the Cherkasy Diocese of the UOC, according to the Cherkasy Blagovisnyk Telegram channel.
“This gesture is a manifestation of our solidarity with your believers who are going through trials and a gesture of support for the Orthodox Canonical Church, led by Metropolitan Onufriy of Kyiv and All Ukraine. While we empathize with your trials, including your arrest and prosecution, we also mourn the news of the violent seizure of your cathedral three months earlier. We pray to our saint that he will grant you courage and strength! Taking the opportunity of our communication, I wish you all the best, so that our Lord, through the prayers of our father Spyridon, who is among the saints, may grant you good spiritual and physical health and strengthen you in your difficult ministry!”, – wrote the bishop of Kerkyra.
Earlier, the hierarch of the Jerusalem Patriarchate, Archbishop Theodosius of Sevastopol, called on the Local Orthodox Churches and human rights organizations to pay attention to the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The hierarch expressed support for the UOC, adding that the Jerusalem Church will never recognize the OCU.
