It was also previously reported that Pope Leo XIV confirmed his support for the idea of unifying the date of Easter, a proposal earlier voiced by his predecessor, Pope Francis. The pontiff believes that the First Ecumenical Council, whose anniversary is being celebrated this year, should serve as an example and foundation for further development of ecumenical dialogue.
At Phanar, a Catholic cardinal read the Creed during an Orthodox service.

On July 20, during Sunday service at the St. George Church of the Patriarchate of Constantinople in Phanar, a curious event took place. Roman Catholic Cardinal Joseph Tobin from the United States read the Creed at the designated moment of the service. Moreover, at the time of the event, Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople was praying at the service, with whom, apparently, the situation described had been previously agreed upon. This was reported by “UOJ in Greece.”
It is reported that the service was led by Archbishop Elpidophoros, head of the American Archdiocese of the Patriarchate of Constantinople in the United States, who is currently in Constantinople with a group of pilgrims. At the end of the Liturgy, Patriarch Bartholomew, who was present at the service, addressed Catholic Cardinal Joseph Tobin, who read the “Symbol of Faith” during the service, calling him “Your Eminence.”
