“Position remains unchanged”: Israeli Foreign Ministry denies reports of obstruction of Hasidic pilgrimage to Ukraine

The Israeli Foreign Ministry has denied reports that appeared yesterday that the Ukrainian government intends to restrict the traditional pilgrimage of Hasidic Jews to the Ukrainian city of Uman for the Rosh Hashanah celebrations. The Israeli Foreign Ministry assures that it has no information about a change in Ukraine’s position on this issue. This was reported by Axios journalist Barak Ravid.
According to Ravid, Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Oren Marmorstein said that Ukraine’s position on the entry of pilgrims remains unchanged.
“As of today, there are no changes in Ukraine’s policy regarding the arrival of believers for Rosh Hashanah,” – the Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman said.
We will remind you that Israeli media recently published information that the traditional pilgrimage of Hasidim from Israel to Ukraine (Uman) to celebrate Rosh Hashanah may not take place this year. Although, according to the official version, this is due to hostilities and security risks, anonymous sources in the Ukrainian establishment claim that this decision by the government is political in nature due to Israel’s “weak support” for Ukraine in the war with Russia.
