Oleksandr Usik allocated funds for the restoration of the Roman Shukhevych Museum in Lviv

World boxing champion Oleksandr Usik took part in a campaign to raise funds for the restoration of the museum of UPA commander-in-chief Roman Shukhevych in Lviv, damaged by shelling in January 2024. The athlete made a personal donation and provided his boxing gloves for the charity auction.

on October 4, 2025 it became known that the boxer transferred 100 thousand hryvnias for restoration work. In his video message Alexander Usik urged Ukrainians to join the restoration of the historical site. “We pay tribute to the past so that our future is bright. Glory to God and glory to Ukraine,” he said.

Roman Shukhevych is one of the most controversial figures in Ukrainian history. He is honored in the country as a national hero and commander of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). At the same time, historical data indicate his collaboration with Nazi Germany during World War II, in particular, his service in the rank of Hauptmann in the battalions “Nachtigal” and 201st battalion of the security police (Schutzmannschaft).

We shall remind you that earlier we reported that another Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usik paid for flights, accommodation and tickets for his fight with Englishman Tyson Fury to 20 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including the so-called PCU chaplain Volodymyr Ridnyy, who took part in the seizure of the Archangel Michael Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Cherkasy .
