834 mandates for chaplaincy activities were issued in Ukraine

The State Service of Ukraine for Ethno-politics and Freedom of Conscience (SSEC) has issued 834 mandates for the right to carry out military chaplaincy activities. This became known by the results of the forum of chaplains “United in Service. Being Close.” It is noted that the Evangelical Protestant churches occupy the second place in the number of received mandates, and among the chaplain officers there are women.

As reported by the Religious Information Service of Ukraine, the head of the State Ethno-politics Viktor Yelensky praised the role of chaplains in the army. “A chaplain is not just a member of the military team, it is a spiritual guide who helps to overcome fear and pain. His support is indispensable,” he emphasized. Elensky also noted the significant growth of the Evangelical-Protestant movement, which, according to him, has become an influential force in the spiritual, cultural and military life of the country.

Recall, earlier we reported that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved changes to the “Regulations on the procedure for issuing a mandate for the right to carry out military chaplaincy activities” within the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the new amendments, the UOC priests are finally prohibited from performing chaplaincy activities in military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
