The Assumption Cathedral in Vladimir was finally transferred to state ownership

State executors have completed the process of inventorying the property and transferring the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the city of Volodymyr-Volynskyy, which was taken away from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on October 8, into state ownership. Thus, three historical buildings on the territory of the complex were transferred to the state ownership, and the Church’s access to them was completely restricted.
According to volynnews.com, enforcement actions in the cathedral took place from October 8 to October 13. According to Oksana Lyada, deputy head of the department of enforcement enforcement in Volyn region, as of October 16, all works were completed. “The property that was in the temple and premises is described, all premises are sealed, locks are replaced in them. The objects of immovable property determined by the court decision have been transferred to the claimant,” she noted.
As a result of actions of governmental bodies, the whole historical complex including the Assumption Cathedral (Mstislav’s temple) of 1156, the house with a bell tower of 1494 and fortress walls with gates of the XVII century were transferred to the state ownership. The next stage will be the transfer of the complex to the balance of the historical and cultural reserve “Ancient Vladimir”. The responsibility for the storage of the described property is temporarily assigned to the Vladimir City Council.
Recall, earlier we reported that the Holy Dormition Cathedral of Vladimir-Volyn Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, taken away from the UOC on October 8, will be visited by the head of the OCU Epifaniy Dumenko. This was announced by Ukrainian MP Ihor Guz, who announced that Epifaniy would hold religious events in the cathedral.
