UOC temple in Korsun-Shevchenkivske seized by OCU supporters turned into clothing warehouse

In the city of Korsun-Shevchenkivsky, Cherkasy region, the Church of the Savior of the Unmanufactured, which previously belonged to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) and is now under the control of supporters of the OCU, has been turned into a clothing warehouse. According to the First Cossack Telegram channel, the building, which has not been used for worship for more than 20 months after its seizure, now stores bags and boxes of clothes.

According to the First Cossack Telegram channel, supporters of the OCU have set up a clothing warehouse inside the church. Parishioners of the UOC, who continue to gather for prayer at the walls of their shrine, testify that the lower church is used to store things stacked right in front of the iconostasis. It is noted that the icons and the altar are covered with things, which has led to a complete loss of the liturgical purpose of the premises.

The conflict around the Church of the Savior of the Man-Made has been going on since 2022, when supporters of the OCU, with the support of local activists, occupied the church. Despite repeated appeals and pressure, the UOC community continues to fight for the return of their house of God.

Orthodox Christians from the UOC community, deprived of the opportunity to pray inside the church, regularly gather near its walls, demonstrating their loyalty and hope for the restoration of justice and the return of the shrine to its true purpose.

Earlier, we reported that the ancient twelfth-century Assumption (St. George) Cathedral of Kaniv, previously expropriated by the state from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, was closed. Now the church may become part of the Shevchenko National Reserve.
