In the Albanian Orthodox Church the new Bishop of Amanti was consecrated

At the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Tirana, Archimandrite Ignatius (Todrin) was solemnly consecrated Bishop of Amantia. The newly ordained hierarch will become the vicar of Archbishop John of Tirana, Durres and all Albania. This is reported by the press service of the Albanian Orthodox Church.
Divine Liturgy on May 3 was headed by the Primate of the Albanian Orthodox Church Archbishop John. He was served by a number of metropolitans representing the Apollonia, Elbasan, Gjirokastr, Berat and Korçin dioceses. The decision to elect Archimandrite Ignatius to episcopal ministry was adopted unanimously by the members of the Holy Synod at a meeting on April 28, 2026.
Bishop Ignatius (in the world — Todrin) was born on February 23, 1978 in the municipality of Divyak. He began his journey of service to the Church after graduating from the Spiritual Academy of the Resurrection of Christ in Durres. For 14 years, he worked as a catechist and preacher in the Metropolis of Berat before taking monastic tonsure and hierodeacon ordination in 2017.
Prior to his elevation to the episcopal rank, Vladyka Ignatius held a number of key administrative positions, including chief secretary of the Holy Synod, rector of the Theological Academy and rector of the country’s main cathedral in Tirana. It is noted that the new bishop is well educated and speaks four foreign languages: English, Italian, Greek and German.
