The Macedonian Orthodox Church held a meeting of the Synod

On October 29, 2026, a regular meeting of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Macedonian Orthodox Church—Ohrid Archbishopric (MOC-OA) was held, during which current issues related to church life and education were discussed. According to the Orthodoxia News Agency, the members of the Synod focused on both celebratory events in the Orthodox world and tragic incidents.

An official communiqué notes that the Synod sent a congratulatory message to Patriarch Bartholomew on the 35th anniversary of his election to the Throne of Constantinople. The hierarchs expressed their sincere wishes for his health and longevity, noting the significance of his many years of service.

In addition, the MPT-OA sent a telegram of condolences to Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem. This was prompted by the recent terrorist attack against Christians at the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George in the Jordanian city of Khmoud, which resulted in numerous casualties. The Synod expressed its deep support for the families of the deceased and the injured, offering prayers for the repose of the souls of the departed and the speedy recovery of the wounded.

Also during the meeting, a decision was made to send a delegation to visit the Russian Orthodox Church. The delegation included Metropolitan Timotheos of Debar and Kichevo and the secretary of the Holy Synod, Bishop Clement of Heraclea.

It should be recalled that a hierarch of the Macedonian Church recently stated that the granting of autocephaly is not the exclusive right of Constantinople.
